Civic Impact Recognition for Numbers in Everyday Life (NiEL) project

16th May 2024.

Numbers in Everyday Life (NiEL) was one of three projects showcased as part of the University of Southampton public commitment and contribution to the region, at the Civic University Anniversary event “The South – Our Region of Golden Opportunities”. The event took place at The Arc, Winchester, on 16 May 2024.

The event was opened by Prof Mark Smith, VC University of Southampton, and attended by representatives from five local councils.

We were joined by parents from Mansbridge Primary School, Southampton, who talked about their experience of participating in the project with their children, and the impact that the project has had on their family talk and discussions about the meanings of numbers in everyday contexts.
