We are a team of researchers from the University of Southampton, specialising in Early Mathematics Learning. We work in close collaboration with Early Years Educational settings and Primary Schools.
Exploring how young children develop their early ideas about mathematics is important for developing evidence-based teaching approaches, practices and resources that aim to best support young childrenās mathematics learning and development.
In our work, we focus on research that examines mathematics learning in formal settings, such as Early Years and Primary school classrooms, as well as the knowledge of mathematics ideas that children develop informally, as part of their everyday experiences at home and as participants in different community and cultural settings.
